Carex plantaginea adds a fresh element to your shade mix. One of our most beautiful native sedges, with unique one-inch wide, dimpled, green leaves make it the shade plant that folks are always looking for. Showy flowering spikes rise above the foliage; will reseed to form colonies. In early spring, foot-high spikes topped with delicate purple blooms appear to float above the 8-12 inch foliage. Carex plantaginea is a great complement to other shade and woodland plants that also thrive in high-organic, moist soil. (Source: Hoffman Nursery)
